Sustainability at BDO

WHY SUSTAINABILITY MATTERS AT BDO

At BDO, we recognise the growing business imperative of addressing sustainability and ESG issues. Our approach to sustainability is deeply embedded in our organisation’s WHY – People Helping People – and we understand the importance of meeting the expectations of all our stakeholders: clients, our people, investors, regulators and the communities in which we do business. Every action we take is aimed at inspiring, educating and leading an unstoppable movement for sustainable business practice in our markets and in our organisation.

Our sustainability approach is designed to create and nurture long-term benefits by navigating the complexities of our evolving world. It entails understanding and addressing material risks, ensuring diversity, protecting the environment, and responding effectively to the demand for transparency and accountability in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters. By doing so, we can recognise threats, mitigate risks, and seize development opportunities, both for BDO and our valued clients.

Our work for clients is focused on activating an organisation’s sustainability journey; providing helpful guidance, tools and information on a range of key ESG topics; and offering a range of services to help organisations contribute to a more sustainable future.

Our commitment to Net-Zero

As a member of the Net-Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance (NZFSPA), BDO has a role to play in combating climate change. We have committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, aligning ourselves with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Through our global net-zero programme, all BDO firms will follow a standardised methodology for consistent baseline emissions calculation, setting net-zero targets and reporting on our progress. This will allow for transparency, accountability and the reduction of our collective environmental impact as a global organisation.
